Prompt 27: Pond

When I got the idea for this drawing, I knew it was going to be a big image and that it was going to take a long time.

At first I played around with the idea of drawing a close-up of bees bending down on the ground drinking water. Then I played around with the idea of bees drinking water from a birdbath and flying around the water, but in the end I got the idea to place them on Lilly pads.

I drew two versions for this idea. In the first drawing, I had the bee on the far left side of the drawing sitting on a frog. However, my husband was again the voice of reason and commented that the presence of the frog made him very uncomfortable for the bees. Which made me realise that it was probably more realistic if the frog wasn't there. So I removed it and place all the bees on Lilly pads.

Story:

Honeybee and her friends love going down to the pond for a little refreshing dip, especially during this hot summer weather.
