Prompt 6: Eye

Now, this is one of my absolute favourite drawings I made during the month of October. It is also one of the first drawings where I experimented more with developing other characters and a story concept.

Originally I only intended to draw a bee's eye, but because I thought the concept was too plain, I thought of the following little joke;

“Hold your eye still?” says Dr. P. Mantis.

“Which eye?” asks Honeybee.

I didn't really think I would be able to draw this idea, but despite my insecurity I decided to try.

I considering a few insects, but in the end I chose to draw a Praying Mantis as the eye doctor inspecting Honeybee's eyes because of the way its’ wings looked. It reminded me of a long white doctor's coat. The Pray Mantis’ stance also reminded me of an old long doctor bending down to see something clearer.

After drawing the Praying Mantis and Honeybee on the leaf, I added the little reception area, doctor sign and other patients.
