Prompt 2: Cosmos

I knew a lot of people would be drawing a space themed illustration for this prompt. However, since I wanted to keep the prompt relevant to Honeybee's world, I decided to draw the cosmos flower.

I also wanted to experiment more with the background and environment for this illustration, instead of just drawing a ‘flat’ drawing. I did this by adding more flowers, grass and other types of insects.

I also played around with the idea of adding a little story or fun fact to the image.

Story & Fun fact:

Cosmos are one of the types of flowers growing on Weltevrede. Honeybee and her ladybug friends love flying and climbing all over these flowers. They are definitely one of their favourite flowers.

Honeybee: "This is a Cosmos flower. They are related to my friend, Miss Sunflower and are native to the scrub and meadowland in Mexico. They came to South Africa via horse feed during the Anglo-Boer War."
