Prompt 25: Coral

For a long time I had no idea what I would draw for this prompt. My characters are located on a farm in the Bushfield, far away from the sea. It was difficult to come up with an idea to draw coral or something to do with coral and still keep it relevant to the environment in which my characters live.

In the end, after visiting an art gallery in Noordhoek, I got an idea to decorate a tortoise's shell with coral. At the art gallery I saw an artwork of a tortoise whose shell was covered in plants and flowers. This made me realise I could do something similar, but with coral!

The little story I made up for this drawing was that the tortoise got the shell from their ‘relative’ who is a sea turtle.

Story:

Honeybee: Oh Wow! I love what you did with your shell, Mr. Tortoise!

Mr. Tortoise: Why thank you Honeybee! It was a gift from my cousin, Ms. Turtle.
