Prompt 9: Blue
Referencing back to the previous prompt, here I played around with the idee of Honeybee “shadowing” with the courier ants.
The ants, who are used to caring things 10-50 times their weight, collect the mulberries (moerbeie) to take to their nest. You'll see how this story continues with the prompt, ship.
Originally I wanted to draw a rabbit collecting berries with a blue mouth. I also originally thought of drawing blue berries, but decided on mulberries. As a child my siblings and I used to eat heaps of mulberries on our family farm.
So even thought the stains left by the mulberries were more purple than blue, I decided to draw them instead. I also remembered how they used to stain our feet a deep blue/purple colour - which in a way suits with the prompt, sort of.
Story:
Here, we have little Honeybee trying to carry a little Moerbei back to her beehive. While her ant friends are able to carry much bigger Moerbeie!
Honeybee: Now you're just showing off!"
